Public transportation in Rome?

Hi everyone!

I was wondering if anyone could help me out here. I will be moving to Rome (very!) shortly, and I have a few concerns regarding the public transportation there. I will be living pretty far away from my school, can I buy some kind of monthly travel card? How is the metro, is it reliable or are there a lot of delays? In short: What is the best way to get around Rome for the smallest amount of money?

I am also not quite sure how to get from the airport to my apartment, but I found this company that offers airport transfer: https://www.blacklane.com/en/airporttransfer/rome. Do you have any experience with this kind of transfer? The price doesn't really matter to me, I just want to be sure that I can get to my apartment safe.

I hope you can help me with some of my questions.
