In short the answer is "no".... You won't loose your citizenship to Canada, but it is a very long and somewhat painful process... you need to get your hands on the original (not photocopies) documents for A LOT of things... For me it took about a year to get all the documentation in order to get my passport, but that was because I needed to track down my grandfather's birth certificate, make my mother a citizen, get my foreign birth registration all in order, get my Canadian "Live Birth Certificate", and normal Birth Certificate. And then, and only then I was able to send in my documentation to get my passport (as a dual-citizen)
