Canadian Taxes in the Year you're Moving Back

Post Thu Aug 11, 2016 12:57 pm

I'm a dual citizen of Canada and the US thinking of moving back to Canada in 2017.

I'm wondering, if I move back to Canada on July 1st 2017, for example, do I pay Canadian taxes for income/capital gains for the whole year (January to December), or just income earned or capital gains after July 1st (half year)?

I'm asking bc the year I moved from Canada to the US I had to pay Canadian taxes for the full year, even income after I had moved to the US.
