About Galena Log Cabin Getaway

Welcome to the 45 lovely, secluded acres of Galena Log Cabin Getaway and the Adventure Creek Alpaca & Goldendoodle Farm.

Owned and operated by Ruth and Frank Netzel, we are a working rural farm with 12 log cabins. Just 4 miles (less than 10 mins) south of Galena. We are totally surrounded by 500-ft ridges, which cut us off from the traffic din, diesel smells, train traffic and the bright city lights of Galena.

Our cabins offer a rustic feel with modern conveniences. Each 800+ square feet cabin offers a warm and cozy living space. The one-room cabin with loft has a large separate bathroom with a double Kohler whirlpool bathtub and a skylight to enjoy the stars. All cabins have a queen size bed on the main floor and a double bed in the loft. Gas log fireplace, 250 satellite TV channels, 4 cu ft refrigerator, microwave, and a cozy cabin await your enjoyment. Eight cabins are historic “dogtrot” two individual cabins separated by a 4-ft breezeway, ideal for groups or large families.

Fireplace and Central Air

Each cabin has central gas forced-air heat; central air, CO/DVD player, and comfortable platform rockers. Also includes a Luxurious queen bed on main floor, a double bed in loft, a large separate bathroom with a 6-ft double-whirlpool tub and a 2-ft x 4-ft skylight to enjoy the stars.

All our Mississippi river cabins offer the same amenities and historic log cabin lodging experience. All cabins are hand-chinked hewn logs of cedar and red pine. All-pine floors and ceilings and exposed loft beams. All major parts are constructed without nails.

Resident Barn Swallows

During summer, each of our dogtrot walkways hosts one or two nests of barn swallows. They eat large amounts of small insects. You don’t get bitten by any mosquitoes around our cabins.
