Other museums include the Museum of Modern History, located in Sharq, and the Memorial Museum, located near Shuwaikh Park.

When dining out in Kuwait don’t forget to taste some of the local cuisine. Although you’ll find a host of American-based restaurants in the city, the indigenous Arabic flavors are a must. You’ll find an assortment of skewered meats, warm breads and delicious dips.

If shopping is on the agenda, Kuwait offers everything from up-scale malls to bargain deals and everything in between. The largest mall in the city is The Avenues. It has a variety of goods that include international brands such as Gap and Banana Republic, and also boasts a 10-screen movie theatre as well. The bargain hunter can find many treasures at the Friday Market, a collection of both new and old merchandise and many unique things.

The most sought-after thing in Kuwait, however, is jewelry. Rings, necklaces, earrings and bracelets are plentiful in Kuwait, gold being the preferred medium. In addition to pre-made items, some jewelers will be happy to fabricate a special and unique piece just for you.
